Currently reading;

  • Neil Gaiman’s The Graveyard Book (no really, I am !)
  • Patricia Briggs’ Blood Bound, from the Mercy Thompson series.
  • I had started in Stephen King’s The Gunslinger, from the Dark Tower series, but I think that I am going to leave that series for later

Prospective reads;

  • Some follow-ups to the books that I have just read, such as Neil Gaiman’s Odd and the Frost Gaints and Coraline in preparation for the UK theatrical release (in June !) and some more books in the Women of the Otherworld and Mercy Thompson series
  • I am seriously looking forward to reading James W. Thomas’ Repotting Harry Potter in conjunction with the entirety of the Potter verse, of course. Thank you for this wonderful birthday present !

Everlasting prospective

For the reading list updates, I’ve set myself a new rule. If there are books in my currently reading section, that are overtaken by books that I started later but finished sooner, they are obviously not being currently read ! They are books that I have started, but for some reason (lack of interest for some, circumstance for others) didn’t finish. This just to keep the list tidy. I will pick up those books again, but will have to start afresh then anyway.

In the meantime, I have thought of a new way to approach my reviewing. This because I find the prospect of having to write a complete and specific review on each book that I read, while also keeping the reviews interesting and original, daunting. I am very excited about it, but more information on that soon.

So without further ado;

Luna’s reading list update

Have just finished;

  • Cassandra Clare’s Mortal Instruments series, or at least City of Bones and City of Ashes, the continuing story City of Glass is released March 24th, 2009
  • Neil Gaiman’s Anansi Boys

Currently reading;

  • Neil Gaiman’s The Graveyard Book

Prospective reads;

  • Patricia Briggs’ Moon called, the first of the Mercy Thompson series
  • Joanne Harris’ Runemarks
  • Elizabeth Kostova’s The Historian

Have you noticed by the way, how The Historian has been a steady last entry in my prospective reads section ? I don’t know why, because I really do want to read it and it has been waiting on my shelf for months, but somehow there is always another book that takes precedence. Someday though…

More books read… just have to find the time to review

It’s been a busy time and it’s not over yet. Luckily yesterday I have successfully defended my internship and thesis. So I’m one step closer to actually graduating my master of science. Just one more course to finish and then I can apply for my degree. Hurray ! Anyway, this has meant that reading has definitely happened, but the reviews are just swirling around my head on not swirling around this page yet. Oh well… soon !

GoodReads

For the sporadic visitors and friends, you’ve probably noticed that I’ve redesigned the purpose of my blog as I find it very dull to have to write about my petty thoughts and actions. Although I enjoy all the facets of my life, the only one I can passionately talk about is literature and books in general. So this first post on my purposefully redesigned blog is going to be a plug attempt.

Thanks to the wonderful Neil Gaiman (read his books, they are amazing !) I have discovered goodreads. goodreads is a wonderful website that basically functions as a Twitter, but the thing that you see is people’s book shelves. I have listed my books for four authors so far and and am gradually climbing the book case ladder. Over time I will certainly add so many more books and I hope to get good inspiration from there for new authors and books.

In time I will create a column on the right-hand side of the page to include an excerpt of my to-read list, which will also feature the book that I’m currently reading. This blog will contain reviews on books and news posts related to anything to do with my favourite books, authors, publishers or the literature or publishing world in general. Enjoy !
